Chiddinglye Farm 20kW

Chiddinglye Farm is a small scale farming business nestled in the Sussex country side, the owner Lord Limmerick and his estate manager and business partner Bill Blunt, are keen supporters of sustainable technologies and wanted to make a significant impact on their energy bills through using renewable energy.

As strong supporters of sustainable energy and having already installed a 10kW Solar PV system this year, they were determined to expand on this particular technology, they asked NWT to install a second 20kW system on another of their farm buildings.  As quoted in South East Farmers Magazine, “We asked NWT to install the system because they are local and have a good reputation. They submitted the most competitive quote and were also able to offer good advice on the Feed in Tariff (FIT) and metering arrangements”. Understanding the FIT payments and the payback calculations balanced with the quality of their technology were persuasive reasons in favour of NWT.

The electricity produced not only serves the workshops but also the other farm buildings and the savings on energy is set to pay back the costs of the system in less than seven years with the continuing benefit from the FIT payments for the following 18 years.

You have to be forward thinking and innovative to keep up with ever changing business needs. As budgets are squeezed further and the price of fuel continues to rocket generating your own energy on the farm makes great economic sense.
